There is a vital rule to Kung Fu called the 10% rule.  When you understand it, your training changes instantly, you understand why some approaches to training fail horribly, and why others produce consistent results. Same goes for affiliate marketing, when you understand the same 10% rule, your marketing will change forever.

So what is that 10% rule?

The 10% rule applies in the number and duration of repetitions for any physical activity like kicking and punching or posture holds.  It basically states for every ten reps that you are able to do sequentially, you will get 1 rep that you can use in a fight.  The reason for that 90% drop is the stress of being in a combative situation, and the fact that you are being actively opposed.

When you’re looking at that rule in conjunction to affiliate marketing it means that whenever you are promoting a number of affiliate products only 10% of them will convert in a way that will make you these massive amounts of money you wish for. It is the same as the 90/10 rule of life, if you’re familiar with it.

To increase the profits you gain from your product offers, it’s important to recruit top affiliates who have and/or are willing to learn and apply the best affiliate marketing techniques in their marketing campaigns.  You should keep in mind though that not all top affiliates are very experienced in affiliate marketing tactics.  

Like any Internet marketer, top affiliates also started out not knowing much, but were willing to learn and apply the information they learned to become a better affiliate marketer.  Eventually, they became so effective at affiliate marketing tactics that they were regarded as “top” or “super” affiliates and were recruited by every Internet marketer for virtually every product launch.  

This means that there may be some affiliates who have the potential to become top affiliates, but need guidance in getting there.

By providing top-notch tools, training, and support, you could help uncover new top affiliates, ones that would likely be loyal to you for helping them reach that “top” status.  The key is being able to provide them with the tools, training, and resources they need to improve their affiliate marketing techniques.  Of course, you’ll benefit from their improvement because the number of sales of your product offers will likely increase over time, and thereby, your profits.

Therefore, you should keep in mind that you should not just recruit known “top” affiliates, but also recruit affiliates who are not currently “top” affiliates, but who could reach that status one day with help and patience by you.  You need to look for affiliates who show an eagerness to learn and who can adapt their strategies based on what they have learned.

There are many ways to help motivate and encourage your top affiliates once you have recruited them into your affiliate sales force.  Giving them special benefits, such as giving them a bonus for reaching a specific number of sales per month, can really go a long way to encouraging your top affiliates to continue promoting your product offers well past their official launch date.  This can lead to you gaining more profit from those product offers weeks and even months after they were first launched.

Top affiliates will know how to effectively promote your product offers long after the initial fanfare of these product offers has died out.  This is another reason why gaining top affiliates into your affiliate program is so highly coveted by Internet marketers.  Your product offers can bring in much more income if you have top affiliates in your affiliate sales force, rather than just affiliates who can make a few sales, but are not that experienced or dedicated to affiliate marketing tactics.  

The longer your affiliates can keep sales of a product offer flowing, the higher your profits will increase and the more publicity and advertising you will receive on the Internet (due to people talking about how good your product offer is long after the initial buzz has died down), thereby reducing the amount of time and money you’ll need to advertise and sell new products.  By getting more sales and exposure from each product offer you present, you’ll gain more profit and spend less money and time on production costs.

Gaining top affiliates into your sales force is key to exploding your online profits to levels never reached before.  However, to attract these top affiliates to your affiliate program, you need to promise them specific benefits that they will receive upon joining your affiliate program and promoting your product offers.

Most top affiliates are not going to be impressed enough to promote your product offer if you offer a high percentage commission or have an impressive conversion ratio.  It’s going to take a combination of valuable benefits in order for them to join your affiliate sales force.  

Other benefits besides high commission rates and high conversion ratios top affiliate would be interested in include the following:

- Getting a higher commission rate than most affiliates – the top affiliate is established in the industry and will expect to be treated as such in return for using his/her extensive knowledge and contacts to promote your product offer.  Otherwise, the top affiliate will look elsewhere and consider other proposals.
- Getting exclusive bonuses, such as Private Label Rights or access to an exclusive membership site or forum that you will have others pay for.  By offering exclusive products or membership sites, you’ll be more likely to draw interest from the top affiliate in your affiliate marketing proposal.
- Making that top affiliate an exclusive joint venture partner in an upcoming marketing promotion that will enable him/her to make sizable profits fairly easily (just by promoting your product to their lists without any extra advertising).
- Giving that top affiliate top-notch tools, marketing promotions, and easy contact access to help make it easier for them to promote your product offers.

These are just some ideas to consider in order to gain top affiliates in your affiliate sales force.

To succeed at making large online profits, you need to have a dedicated affiliate force that will actively promote your product offers for you to people you normally would not reach or have a connection with.  This is why it’s important to gain affiliates who are experienced and dedicated to learning and doing well at affiliate marketing.

However, even after you have found these top affiliates and enlisted them into your affiliate program, this doesn’t mean the work for you is done.  On the contrary, your work becomes even more important.  You have to convince them that they should stay in your affiliate program and continue to promote your product offers.  Just because they’ve signed up to your affiliate program doesn’t guarantee they’re going to make a high number of sales or that they’re going to even stay with your affiliate program longer.

The only way you can come close to guaranteeing those conditions is to continually work on providing your affiliates with the tools and resources they need to succeed at marketing your product offers.  Additionally, you need to encourage them and show them that you care and are ready and willing to help whenever they need it.

Many inexperienced Internet marketers think that once they’ve acquired the top affiliates, the work is all done and the money will continuously flow in, but this is definitely not the case.  Just like anything worthwhile, you have to continuously work at keeping your top affiliates motivated and committed to selling your product offers in order for them to help you make the profits you are expecting.

When you are building your affiliate sales force, you should keep in mind the “80/20″ rule – “20% of your affiliates will make 80% of your affiliate marketing profits.”

This isn’t always the case, but is often close enough, which is why you need to really focus on the quality of your affiliates rather than the quantity of affiliates you have in your affiliate program.

Virtually every affiliate program online today will have people who will sign up for the program, but won’t produce many, if any, sales.  Sometimes, the fault lies with the affiliate, as he/she may not be motivated enough to learn the skills necessary to be successful at affiliate marketing.

Obviously, you’ll want to have more affiliates who are dedicated to affiliate marketing and learning and applying the techniques necessary to be successful at affiliate marketing.  While many sign up, fewer people will truly be dedicated and able to do well at affiliate marketing.

Fortunately, there are tried and true methods that will enable you to find and enlist those dedicated affiliates into your affiliate program.  There are also tried and true methods that will enable you to encourage and motivate those affiliates to continue to perform well for your affiliate program – after all, just because you recruit top affiliates into your program doesn’t mean that they’ll just continue to promote endlessly for you unless you give them reason to.

To increase your online profits, it’s important to reach more of your target market with your product offers.  Having many affiliates promoting your product offers is a good way to increase your profits, but not all affiliates are considered equal in terms of their ability to effectively promote your product offers to the people they market them to.  Preferably, you really want to increase the number of super affiliates in your sales force in order to see a substantial rise in your profits.

Super affiliates are those affiliates who have a good deal of experience promoting and selling many products for many different marketers, with great success in making many sales.  As a result, super affiliates make sizable profits for both themselves and the owners of the products they are marketing.  This results in more marketers wanting those super affiliates to join their affiliate ranks so that they can boost the number of sales of their products, and thereby, their profits.

While there are some affiliates who become super affiliates almost overnight, most of them have built their way up from being a regular affiliate who makes a few sales here and there into an affiliate who almost always generates a lot of sales from just sending out some emails to his/her list(s) and recommends your product.  This is because these affiliates have learned what it takes to succeed at affiliate marketing through trial and error, as well as learning and applying what other super affiliates are doing to achieve their successful marketing results and profits.
